Bolero MASTER CLASS 1 - Utilities and Loaders ( from 3:00pm – 5:00pm)
On-Set Communication: Keeping the Crew Connected
A busy set is a moving target. Cameras move, lighting changes, departments shift, and somehow everyone still needs to know what’s happening, often while surrounded by noise, gear, and a whole lot of people talking.
In this hands-on masterclass, Craig Kief, ASC shares how he uses Riedel Bolero wireless intercom to keep camera, lighting, and production teams connected without adding more complexity to the set.
Designed for utility technicians, loaders, gaffers, and other crew members, this session focuses on the practical realities of communication on a working set. Craig will explore how full-duplex wireless intercom can change the way crews communicate, from eliminating the wait-and-talk limitations of traditional walkies to giving crew members access to multiple party lines and the people they need to hear.
Topics will include:
- Communicating clearly in busy, noisy production environments
- Full-duplex communication vs. traditional walkie-talkie workflows
- Using party lines to stay connected to the right people at the right time
- Going wireless without adding more gear to manage
- Bluetooth earpieces and the real-world benefits of eliminating cables
- Working with mobile camera and lighting teams
- Battery-powered wireless infrastructure for remote and moving shots
- Practical communication strategies that help crews spend less time managing comms and more time doing their jobs
Come learn how better communication can make a long day on set a whole lot easier.
Please arrive early - 2:00pm - 3:00pm - we will be starting on time.
You may stick around afterwards to ask questions, network and have refreshments.
